Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas, a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption. Where filmstars and millionares do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.
Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster. On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Since
Carl Johnson left the Grove Street in Los Santos, things have been getting
worse and worse by the day. Gang members get capped by their rivals the Ballas
and more and more fall to using drugs as an escape route. Sweet is CJ's older
brother, and basically the leader of the Grove Street Families. He blames
Carl for the death of their younger brother Brian who was involved in an accident
five years ago. Melvin Harris AKA "Big Smoke" and Lance Wilson AKA
"Ryder" of the Grove Street family prepare for a drug business in
San Fierro with "Jizzy B", "T-Bone Mendez", and Mike Toreno.
Unhappy with this, Sweet refuses to take part and wishes to have everything
for the hood, not against it like many are doing.
Major crimes
in Los Santos? Easy. Gang Crime. Who will take care of this mess? That's the
job for Los Santos' C.R.A.S.H. Unit. This is led by
Officer Tenpenny and Officer Pulaski. Don't forget the newest recruit, Officer Hernandez. Tenpenny and Pulaski are ruthless. They push Officer Hernandez into killing Officer Pendelburry, who threatens to blab about Officer Tenpenny and Pulaski's disrespect towards the law.
The
Ballas decide it's time to take out Grove Street once and for all. The plan
an attack on Sweet, but instead, Beverly Johnson is killed and Sweet survives.
Sweet calls CJ in Liberty City and tells him that their mom has died. Carl
starts his trip back to Los Santos, San Andreas where he is met by Officer
Tenpenny and Officer Pulaski. He's drove to an area known to be occupied by
Ballas and thrown out of the car. CJ once again finds himself a gangbanger.
The more
time CJ spends in San Andreas, he finds there is "a world outside the
hood" and starts to get involved in bigger and better things like managing
the famous rapper "Madd Dogg", opening a garage, robbing casinos,
helping a mafia boss with some business, and even finding time to street race.
Carl even has numerous girlfriends throughout his time spent in San Andreas
so he has yet another worry to add to his collection. Welcome to San Andreas.
"Grand
Theft Auto: San Andreas features 11 radio stations, each with it's own unique
genre and mood. The radio stations are complimented by 20 different DJs appearing
in the soundtrack. In comparison to Vice City, San Andreas features an incredible
three times as much music. In addition, there are three times as many radio
commercials as in GTA
The radio stations are setup dynamically, putting an end to looping tracks. Players will also be able to hear accurate weather bulletins, accurate news updates, seperate lead-ins and lead-outs depending on the DJ and plenty more. Many controversial radio personalities have also brought their talent to the table, such as Opie and Anthony, and Lazlow.
In order to bring as much flavour as possible to the table, Rockstar Games have partnered up with Interscope Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. This joint collaboration will also be yielding a San Andreas soundtrack, expected to hit shelves November 23rd. The double CD versionwill feature "a mix of select tracks from San Andreas' many in-game radio stations," if that doesn't suit your fancy, a massive boxset of 8 CDs will also be available." - gtasanandreas.net
"Fans of the blockbuster series can expect the soundtrack to cover the full spectrum of music genres and reflect the sound, vibe and feel of the FM radio dial from the early 1990's period," stated Terry Donovan, CEO of Rockstar Games. "The in-game radio stations featured in Grand Theft Auto have been one of the most celebrated and revolutionary aspects of the game since its inception. Through our partnership with Interscope Records, we are confident that the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas soundtrack will continue to reach new standards of excellence and creativity, and will exceed anything that the video game industry or Hollywood have ever produced in terms of size, scope and depth."
"We are happy to be working with Rockstar Games on the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," said Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records. "I believe that the enormous effort both companies have made in putting the soundtrack together has resulted in something truly special that will be reflected in both the game and the soundtrack albums." - Take2 Interactive

The State of San Andreas is closely related to California. It consists of 3 seperate metropolitan cities, Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. Each with their own unique atmospere and surroundings.
Many
people think of Los Santos, (Los Angeles?) as a city of gangs, violence, and
drugs, is where the game picks up and is where CJ's life started out and where
he tried leaving 5 years ago. But that'd only be half write. The city is inhabited
with people of all different kinds of values. While people in the ghettos
and the hood aren't exactly rich and driving around nice sports cars, people
in Vinewood (Hollywood?) are living the highlife in nice homes and nice cars.
One thing is for sure though, lowlifes and dirtbags are all over in San Andreas.
Be on the lookout.
What can be said about San Fierro? A lot of things! San Fierro is like San Fransisco, even down to all the hills in it. CJ finds himself here over a prize he won... a run-down old garage. Don't let that fool you about the area though, people seem to have money with what houses are here, mostly a commercial city though. A nice big airport and dock are located to the east, which could prove to be useful. Be sure to look out for a couple mod-garages, one of which really makes certain cars look "spiffy". When you're cruising around here, be sure to expect heavy Chinese influence.
Now,
Las Venturas. Welcome to San Andreas' "Sin City". What's not the
same about this and Las Vegas? Ok, so Las Vegas is in Nevada, still.. but
lets look at the point. The desert surroundings make this an oasis of shimmering
lights, rims, and coins. Casinos, Strip Clubs, and expensive hotels are located
on or near The Strip where you'll find some tourism and high-class assholes.
When the night comes out, the city lights up with excitement, nice sports
cars roll through and it's flat out awesome.
Probly one of the coolest places in San Andreas is the huge country-side filled with rivers, mountains, streams, lakes, and desert. Also in these great stretches of land between each city are 9 small towns (Or so that's all I've counted). Don't get me wrong, the country-side isn't a quiet lonely place, it will feature plenty of side missions to keep you busy and plenty of trails for exploring or doing some great jumps.
